Toggle special abilities:
Push Start to pause game play, then

Recover health:

Unlimited item capacity:

at the item selection screen. You can carry six specific items but unlimited
amounts of these items.
Unlimited item capacity:
Press and hold L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 and push Square(3),
Up, Left, Down, Right, Square, Up, Right,
Down, Left at the item selection screen. Although you can only
still carry six different items, you can have an unlimited amount of those
specific items.
Display score and time:
Press Start to pause game play, then push Right(2), Left(2)
on controller two. When using the Japanese version, push Start to pause
game play, then press Left(2), Right(2) on controller two.
Increase score:
Press Start to pause game play, then hold L1 + R1 and
push Right(2), Left(2) on controller two to add 100 points to your
score. When using the Japanese version, push Start to pause game play,
then hold L1 + R1 and push Left(2), Right(2).
B-side dialogue:
Press and hold L1 + R2 and push Down, Square, Up,
Square, Right, Square, Left, Square at the
opening screen with the Tenchu logo. Select "Options", then
"Audio", then "Language" to access the "B-Side"
option to play the game with joke and outtake-style dialogue.
One Hit Kills:
You can perform one hit kills only when enemies are not aware of the attack.
Therefore it is better and easier to kill before you are seen. Every character
has around six instant kills which will be different depending on the angle you
attack from. Moving around when in a crouched position helps you stay invisible
to your opponents for most of the game.
Pits:
Even though there are items which can give you extra lives, if you fall in a
pit it won't matter. Pits are extremely deadly in this Activision title and
should be avoided.
Getting Grandmaster ranking:
The easiest way to get a Grandmaster ranking for a particular level is to
avoid detection and perform as many instant kills as possible.
Getting Special Moves:
By getting the required amount of one-hit kills (enemy not aware) in a
particular mission you will unlock new offensive and defensive techniques,
combos, and special abilities.
Resetting the camera angle:
When you are ganged up against and the camera angle doesn't allow you to see
all your enemies, you can push R1 to reset the camera angle.
Patrols:
When your enemies see you when on a patrol they will chase after you. By
getting out of their line of sight you allude them because they will only
perform a half-hearted search for you (merely seconds).
Guard cats:
Cats are invincible and can't be stealthed
killed. Their only purpose is alerting every guard in the area. Stay away from
them if you can.
Alternate Rikimaru:
Hold L1 + R1 and press Left(2), Right(2),
Up(4) at the main menu.
Unlock Chibot in multi-player mode:
Finish level 6 as Rikimaru or Ayame.
Unlock Hamada in multi-player mode:
Finish level 2 as Rikimaru or level
3 as Ayame.
Unlock Jinnai in multi-player mode:
Finish level 6 as Tesshu.
Unlock Jonin Blue in multi-player mode:
Finish level 4 as Rikimaru or level
8 as Ayame.
Unlock Jonin Red in multi-player mode:
Finish level 3 as Rikimaru or level
8 as Ayame.
Unlock Kagura in multi-player mode:
Finish level 8 as Rikimaru or level
9 as Ayame.
Unlock Kenpo Bouzu in multi-player mode:
Finish level 8 as Rikimaru or level
9 with Ayame.
Unlock Kunoichi in multi-player mode:
Finish level 9 as Rikimaru or Ayame.
Unlock Mr. D Ceo in multi-player mode:
Finish the Through The Portal bonus
level as Rikimaru.
Unlock Nasu in multi-player mode:
Finish level 1 as Rikimaru or level
2 as Ayame.
Unlock Ninja Dog in multi-player mode:
Get a "Grandmaster" rank in all of Ayame's
levels.
Unlock Onikage in multi-player mode:
Finish level 5 as Rikimaru or level
6 as Ayame.
Unlock Semimaru in multi-player mode:
Get a "Grandmaster" rank in all of Rikimaru's
levels.
Unlock Taijima in multi-player mode:
Finish level 1 as Rikimaru or Ayame.
Unlock Tatsumaru in multi-player mode:
Finish level 10 as Rikimaru or Ayame.
Unlock Tesshu in multi-player mode:
Finish the game as Rikimaru or Ayame.
In-game reset:
While playing the game, push R1 + R2 + L1 + L2
+ Start + Select.
Alternate ending sequence:
Get a "Grand Master" rank on all levels with
Rikimaru and defeat Tenrai. You will be treated to a new ending,
and will have to fight Tenrai a third time before he completely
dies.
Secret attacks:
To perform a secret attack with the various characters,
spin the Left Analog-stick and tap Square. Note:
This may require a few attempts.
When using Tesshu, press X + Circle. You will see
red smoke around his arms. When you now punch somebody, they will
catch on fire.
Double stealth kills:
In co-op mode, choose your player, and sneak up
on an enemy using stealth. Press Square simultaneously
to perform a double stealth kill.
