Easy Draft Picks:
If you go to free agents you can sign the best available player (all salary no bonus, otherwise you\'ll get stuck with cap penalties) then trade him for the best draft pick you can. Usually a player in the high 70's will get you a 5th rounder a 80's will get you a fourth. Do this enough and you'll be able to package those picks later for higher picks on draft day.

Remember to trade picks with a team not expected to play well during that particular year so you can get the highest possible draft selection.

When in franchise mode, before the trade deadline in week 6 you can trade your 1st round pick for the team who is currently in last place for there 1st, 2nd and sometimes even 3rd round pick. This works best if you are 5-0 and the other team is 0-5 but fool around with it and you'll see what I mean.

Create a player that is a lineman, make his age 45 and have his stats to 99 you can trade him for any draft pick and he still isn't a big enough factor to change the outcome of a season for the other team

Save your game before a draft. Finish a draft and record the top draft picks (1st and 2nd rounds) and their teams. See what their stats become once they are signed and re-load your saved game and redo the draft knowing which players are going to perform on the pro level (it usually doesn't change if you saved the game right before the draft)

trade your second, third, and fourth round pick to the worst team in the NFL (or shop around the league) you will usually acquire a first, third, and fourth round pick. With YOUR remaining first round pick trade it to another cheap team. then you\'ll have to good first round picks.

In franchise mode, make sure that upon completion of WEEK 16 you are alone at the top of the league.  Do not complete any game in week 17 or else this will not work.  Also the trade deadline must be off.  Look at the standings to see which team has the worst record.  Trade your number 1 pick for the 1,2,3 picks of this team.  Check the standings again for the second worst team.  Trade YOUR TEAM\'S second and third pick for their first.  Do the same thing with YOUR TEAM\'S 4,5 picks to get the second worst teams\' 3 pick or trade your 4 pick to the worst team for their 4,5,6 pick.  This should get you the best draft picks come draft time.

When in franchise mode, make a player (doesn\'t matter which position) and make all his stats horrible.  Sign him in free agency for next to nothing but make sure he has no signing bonus.  Once you\'ve signed him, make sure that you make all his stats awesome (99 on everything) and trade him to the worst team in the league for draft picks (If you have the trade deadline option \"off\" this will help much more).  Trade this guy for the 1,2,3 draft picks BEFORE THE REGULAR SEASON HAS ENDED (after the completion of week 15).  Once you have traded the player, make all of his stats back down to zero or as low as you want them.  Do this as many times as you want.  To make sure you have a total number of 10 draft picks, trade your round sevens and sixes to the other team to \"lighten the load.\"

Building Up Top Draft Picks:
By playing all of your first 3-4 draft picks early and often (while padding their stats) in preseason will improve their vitals significantly before the start of the regular season. This becomes critical if you need a rookie to start in the regular season. By simulating preseason games you cannot maximize this benefit.

Easy Trades:
When in a season you can make a player. Make all stats great except for injury and stamina and toughness. Then go to free agents and sign him. Now you can trade him for anybody you want to. (in my case, a draft pick and a good rookie) the created guy will get injured and will not play.

While in the Franchise Mode go to Veiw Rosters then pick the player you want. Then go to Edit Player Then Change His Position. Like I Pick Peyton Manning I change his position to (WR) Wide Receiver. Then His Overall Will Go Down. Then Go To Trade Player and Trade him for one of your Worst wide receivers or a different player.

hint: if you want to stack your team before you pick a team for a new franchise go to rosters on the start menu when you first start up the system and you can trade your worst players (i.g.doug flutie for peyton manning) or go to edit player still in start menu so you can take some one like jerry rice who's stats aren't near what they used to be and boost them all the way up to 99 in every thing.

Building up free Agents:
If you have some cap room sign a high rated free agent in the off season only for one year then build him up in the training camp before preseason then before your first preseason game trade him for something you need if you can wait then keep him through week 5 build him up a little more and then trade him right before the deadline for what you need and a draft pick remember by week 5 there will be alot of injuries which make your guy more valuable.

More Money Owners Mode:
Put your advertising all the way up for home games, then before simulating the rest of the week after you played, turn it all the way down.  It will not charge you for the money.

Cap Management:
Signing franchise (star) players to long term contracts lowers their cap value for the near future, but remember to trade them before their overall rating declines too much since they will be hard to deal with a longer term contract.

Grabbing a sleeper in the late rounds of the draft can be a bigger blessing in disguise. You can now sign that player to a long term deal for less early in his career.

Resigning players:
a good way to get a player for a lot less money is to, before you let him go or let his contract run out, go in his info and change his position to a lower payiing position. Then in free agency re-sign him for a 7 year contract for a lot less money, then change him back. This works because the player for one will typically have way lower ratings, and two, the position is lower paying (example: turning Ladanian Tomlinson into a fullback and signing him to a seven year 10 million dollar contract).

This is good to know if you like to import draft classes from NCAA 2005:
I did some experimenting with the draft algorithims. The players ratings are slightly randomized (not completely random obviously) in the madden game (and not during export draft class in NCAA) when you advance to offseason. So for example if you save before you advance, then after the draft, your number 1 pick has a stamina rating of 20, and that annoys you, just do it over and it will be different.

Also, if you really want to cheat like i sometimes do, the algorithms for some ratings are as follows.

HB Speed - it always takes off at least 2, so if 99 speed in NCAA, 97 in madden. You can get around this if you create a player in NCAA who is a fullback. This gets randomized so a fullback in NCAA with 99 speed will have between 96 and 99 speed in Madden. Same goes for tight ends.

Also, quarterbacks pretty much keep the same speed.
